Prof. Dr. Ebru Tansel (Director of the Institute)

He was born in Istanbul in 1969. He graduated from Kadıköy Anatolian High School in 1987 and started his medical education at Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. In 1998, he completed his psychiatry specialization in Bakırköy Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital with his thesis named “Neuropsychological Assessment Findings and Their Relationship with Clinical Features in Patients with a Diagnosed Manic Attack and Normal Individuals”. In 1997, MRI and SPECT in Schizophrenic Patients Relation ’33. Turkey is working best research award and the National Congress of Psychiatry Psychiatric and Neurological Diseases Hospital 70th won the Special Award. In 2002, he completed his Forensic Medicine doctorate at Marmara University Institute of Forensic Sciences with his thesis on “The effect of child abuse on anger-expression style”. Her research and publications focus on domestic violence, drug abuse and the effects of psychological trauma.

It established the Cyprus Positive Psychotherapy Center for the first time in TRNC under the German Wiesbaden Institute. She is a psychodrama therapist and instructor in Positive Psychotherapy and Transcultural family therapy. His work titled “The Prevalence of Problem and Pathological Gambling and Risk Factors and Types of Acculturation” at the 50th National Psychiatry Congress in 2014 was awarded the best research award, the second prize in the 11th Congress on Alcohol and Substance Addiction in 2017, and the 54th in 2018. His work titled “Dissociation” won the third prize at the Psychiatry Congress.

Since 1998, he has been working as a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Near East University. She is married with two children.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çakıcı (Coordinator)

He was born in 1966 in Nicosia. He graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 1993. He completed his residency in Psychiatry at Bakırköy Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital in 1994-1998 and a Doctorate of Forensic Medicine at Marmara University Health Sciences Institute in 1996-2000. Between 1998-2000, he established the Psychiatric Treatment and Psychological Counseling Center in the Military while he fulfilled his military service in the Security Forces Command in the TRNC and was awarded with a GKK Certificate of Appreciation for his work in preventing suicides.

In 1998, he was appointed as the Head of the Psychology Department at NEU. In 1998, he founded LEPİM Nicosia Psychiatry Center. In 2002, he established the Pembe Köşk Substance Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center, the first inpatient drug addiction center in the TRNC, and served as the Chief Physician. After establishing the Cyprus Mental Health Institute in 2005, he started drug addiction counseling training in Cyprus by obtaining the accreditation of the “Psychoactive Substance Addiction Certificate Program” carried out by NAADAC in the USA.

He became Associate Professor of Psychiatry in 2001 and Professor of Forensic Sciences in 2013. He served as Nicosia Deputy, President of the Cyprus Turkish Mental Health Association, Secretary General of the Cyprus Turkish Medical Association and Vice President of the Private Physicians Union in TRNC for 3 terms. in Turkey in Psychiatry Congress Psychiatry 1997, 2001, 2014, 2017 and once in second four times, first in 2018, once third in total 6 awards and 2002, including awards in Turkey Young Entrepreneurs Association by JAYSESS “Humanity and Civil Society The Mediterranean Region received the TOYP award, which is the most successful person under the age of 40 in the field of “Services Provided to Their Organizations”. Besides over 100 Scientific Articles and Papers, he has 10 books. He is currently working as a psychiatrist at Near East University Psychology Department Head, Cyprus Mental Health Institute Directorate and Nicosia Psychiatry Center.

Assoc. Dr. Huda Hüdaverdi

He was born on 19 August 1964 in the town of Larnaca in Cyprus. He completed his primary and secondary education at John Wycliffe School Dulwich in the UK and his high school education at South Kensington College, also in the UK. Returning to Cyprus in 1983, Hüdaverdi enrolled in the Department of Business Management at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) for his undergraduate education. Hüdaverdi, who received his bachelor’s degree in 1991, started to take the first steps of his academic career without interruption and continued his education at EMU Business Administration Department. He received his master’s degree in 1994. He worked as a lecturer at Eastern Mediterranean University between 1995-1996. Hüdaverdi, who served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the American International University between 1994-1998, completed his military service between 1998-2000. Hüdaverdi, one of the founding members of the Psychological Education, Counseling and Research Center (PEDAM) serving under the Security Forces Command, also worked as a Research Assistant at PEDAM during his compulsory military service. Hüdaverdi, who has been working as academicians and senior management positions at Girne American University (GAU) for 16 years since 2000, completed his doctorate in Business Management at GAU in 2013 and received the title of Assistant Professor at GAU Faculty of Business and Economics in 2014. Hüdaverdi worked as the Undersecretary of the TRNC Deputy Prime Minister, Ministry of Economy, Tourism, Culture and Sports between 2013-2015.

Hüda Hüdaverdi, who introduced the TRNC to the British Culture College brand in 2016; He was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of British Culture College, which provides education at nursery, kindergarten and primary school levels. Hüdaverdi, who worked as a lecturer in the Business and Economics departments at Akdeniz Karpaz University in 2016, has a very good command of the English language in written and oral form. Founding the AKSEM Academy in 2017, Hüda Hüdaverdi created educational programs by bringing students from abroad to the TRNC at master’s and doctoral levels. Hüdaverdi, who played a major role in the establishment of the Pembe Köşk Psychiatric Hospital, which was the first inpatient addiction center in TRNC in 2019, is still working as AKSEM Academy Director, Pembe Köşk Psychiatric Hospital Founding Manager and Russia Southern University (IMBL) Social Sciences Institute Director.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Meryem Karaaziz

He was born in 1990 in Nicosia. She graduated from Girne Anafartalar High School with a degree in 2007 and started her psychology education at the Department of Psychology at Near East University. He completed his undergraduate education in Psychology in 2012 as the first in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. In the same year, she started her MA in Applied Clinical Psychology at Near East University. In 2014, he completed his master’s degree with an average of 4.00 / 4.00 and started the General Psychology doctorate program at Near East University. During his education, he completed clinical psychology internships in Bakırköy Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital and Barış Mental Diseases Hospital, and a developmental psychology internship in a private nursery. She has been working as a clinical psychologist in a private hospital since 2012. She started working as a research assistant in the Psychology Department of the Near East University during the 2012-2013 Fall Term. Since 2013-2014, he has been working as a lecturer in the Psychology Department of Near East University. In 2017, she completed her psychology doctorate program in first place and was awarded the title of “assistant professor” in 2018. It has a total of 6 scientific awards in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

He has directed more than 33 master’s theses, wrote more than 32 scientific publications published in international refereed journals, more than 22 presentations and 3 book chapters. He is still actively involved in many scientific studies. Positive Psychotherapist is a consultant for EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy and NADAAC Made Addiction. He has been a board member of the Cyprus Psychotherapy Association since 2013. Since 2014, he has been writing articles as an expert clinical psychologist in various newspapers and has been working in many TV programs, chat meetings, conferences, youtube channels, etc. conducts and presents studies related to psychology. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Near East University Psychology Department and a faculty member. She is married with one child.

Uz.Psk. Asra Babayiğit

He was born in Kyrenia in 1993. He graduated from Turkish Maarif College in 2011. He started his psychology education at Near East University. She completed her internships in Social Services in 2012 and in Bakırköy Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital in 2013. In 2015, he completed his undergraduate degree in psychology as the top student of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. In 2015, he started the Near East University Clinical Psychology graduate program. In 2015, she completed Positive Psychotherapy basic training and NAADAC substance abuse counseling training. Since 2015, he started working as a research assistant in the Department of Psychology at Near East University. Since 2016, she has been continuing her positive psychotherapy further education. He completed his clinical internship at Barış Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital in 2016. In 2017, she completed the Clinical Psychology master’s program with first place. She has been working as a lecturer in the psychology department since 2017. In 2017, he received the second best research award at the 11th national alcohol and substance addiction congress and his article was published under SSCI. He participated in many congresses and symposiums. Researches on alcohol and substance addiction are still included in projects. Babayiğit, who started the Near East University Clinical Psychology Doctorate Program since 2017, was appointed as Dr. He took his title.

Assistant Professor Deniz Karademir

Msc..Ayşe Buran

He was born in Nicosia Cyprus in 1992. He graduated from Nicosia Turkish Maarif College in 2010. In 2010, he started Near East University, Department of Psychology. During her undergraduate education, she completed her internship in developmental psychology in private nurseries and clinical psychology in Bakırköy Mental Health and Diseases Hospital. In 2014, he started his master’s degree in Clinical Psychology (with thesis) at Near East University. He started to work as a research assistant at the Department of Psychology at NEU University during his master’s thesis. During this period, he took part in various scientific researches. In 2014, Wiesbadener Academia für Psychotherapie (WAAP) approved Positive Psychotherapy basic training and started further education in 2018 and completed NAADAC (Cigarette, Alcohol and Substance Addiction Counseling Training). During her graduate education, she completed clinical psychology internships at Uludağ University and Near East University hospitals. He completed the Clinical Psychology master’s program in 2017 and started the General Psychology doctorate program at Near East University the same year. He is currently at the doctoral dissertation stage and while conducting his thesis on alcohol addiction, he started seeing patients at the Pembe Köşk Psychiatric Hospital. Five articles were published under SSCI in 2019. He participated in many congresses and symposiums and received research awards in two scientific congresses. He is currently working as a lecturer at the Near East University psychology department.

Msc. Kubra Ozsat

He was born in Diyarbakır in 1993. He graduated from Bilgiyurt College in 2011. In 2012, he started Near East University, Department of Psychology. He completed his internship at Diyarbakır Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital. In 2017, he started his master’s degree in Clinical Psychology (with thesis) at Near East University. While continuing his master’s education, he worked on scientific research studies and articles as the assistant of the Head of the Psychology Department of NEU University. While working as a development psychologist at British Culture College in 2017-2018, she worked as an academic consultant and education coordinator at AKSEM Academy in the same years. In 2018, he completed Wiesbadener Academia für Psychotherapie (WAAP) approved Positive Psychotherapy basic training and NAADAC (Cigarette, Alcohol and Substance Addiction Counseling Training). She completed her clinical internship in Pembe Köşk Psychiatric Hospital in 2018. He completed the Clinical Psychology master’s program in 2019. His article was published under SSCI in 2019. He participated in many congresses and symposiums. Researches on alcohol and substance addiction are still included in projects. He is currently working as the education coordinator of the Cyprus Mental Health Institute and as a lecturer in the psychology department of the Cyprus University of Health and Social Sciences.
